Thanks, Pete.

Woody, I forgot to include some definition updates that came to me, so I'll list those below:

1) From Kathleen Connor
My harmonization request was missing a definition that I said I would write - also, the code needs to be PAYMENT to be congruent with the other codes in this value set. Proposed definition of PAYMENT

PAYMENT Payment: The guarantor, who may be the patient, pays the entire charge for a service because, for example, there is no insurance coverage for the service (e.g. cosmetic surgery); the patient wishes to self-pay for the service, or the insurer denies payment for the service due to contractual provisions such as the need for prior authorization.

2) From Norman

PA-nametype-definition.doc

As agreed in Tuesdays RIM harmonization meeting, Ive revised the definition of the new Person Name Use code.

For RIM Entity.name, for the Domain EntityNameUse

Amended Submission
Mnemonic: ASGN

Print Name: Assigned

Definition/Description:

An alternate name assigned to a person. This is distinct from a self-asserted name. Reasons some organizations assign alternate names may include not knowing the persons name, or to maintain anonymity. Some, but not necessarily all, of the name types that people call alias may fit into this category.

Parent concept: Level 1 A: PersonNameUse V200 A code indicating the type of name (e.g. nickname, alias, maiden name, legal, adopted)

Original Submission

Add to PersonNameUse a new child concept AL (alias).

Mnemonic: AL

Print Name: alias

Definition/Description: An alternate name by which a person is known.

Parent concept: Level 1 A: PersonNameUse V200 A code indicating the type of name (e.g. nickname, alias, maiden name, legal, adopted)
